Overview
Our Millermatic MIG welding systems deliver fast, reliable production welding for structural and fabricated steel assemblies.
Operations & Applications
MIG (GMAW) welding is our primary welding process for production work, offering the speed and deposition rates needed for fabricated steel assemblies. Our Millermatic systems are configured for a range of wire types and shielding gases to handle various steel grades and thicknesses. The semi-automatic process allows our welders to produce strong, consistent welds at high speed — ideal for brackets, frames, enclosures, and structural assemblies. The Millermatic 252 and 255 welders deliver up to 350 amps of output, providing the power to weld materials from thin-gauge sheet metal to 1/2-inch structural plate in a single pass. Our machines are set up with both solid wire and metal-cored wire options — solid wire for general fabrication work and metal-cored wire for higher deposition rates on heavy structural joints where weld volume is significant. We use 75/25 argon/CO2 shielding gas for most carbon steel work and tri-mix gases for applications requiring reduced spatter and improved bead appearance. Multiple welding stations positioned throughout our fabrication floor allow us to weld subassemblies at the point of production, reducing material handling between operations. Our welders are trained to follow specific welding procedure specifications for each job, and we provide weld inspection and documentation for customers requiring traceability on structural and safety-critical assemblies.
This welding systems equipment operates at Ameristeel's Michigan steel fabrication facilities, serving automotive manufacturers and metal fabricators throughout Southeast Michigan and the greater Metro Detroit region.

Why Choose Ameristeel
Ameristeel's MIG welding stations deliver the speed and deposition rates needed for production fabrication work. Multiple stations allow parallel welding operations, reducing your lead time on large orders while maintaining strong, consistent weld quality throughout every assembly. The Millermatic systems' combination of power and wire feed control gives our welders the ability to produce quality welds across a wide range of material thicknesses, from 18-gauge sheet metal enclosures to 1/2-inch structural plates. Having multiple stations distributed across our production floor minimizes the distance parts travel between cutting, forming, and welding operations, reducing handling time and the risk of in-process damage. For production orders requiring hundreds or thousands of identical welded assemblies, our welders work from fixture setups that ensure dimensional consistency from the first piece to the last.
